You don’t have to buy an expensive chair to bring a bit of Arne Jacobsen into your home. This Danish brand’s cool cups come complete with typography by the legendary Danish architect (he created this typeface in 1937 for internal signage in Aarhus City Hall). They come in porcelain or hard-wearing melamine for children (or clumsy adults!). I stock their stationery range too.
Make an appointment with House Doctor, the stylish, great value Danish interiors brand run by three siblings. Their versatile, chic baskets are my best-seller – use them to store logs, blankets or as a beach bag. The wicker lanterns, ceramic vases and alarm clocks are pretty darn cool too.
When is a dish-brush not a dish-brush? When it’s an objet d’art. These household brushes are hand-made by visually impaired craftsmen in gorgeous natural materials. They’re meant to last and bring a little panache to your kitchen cleaning kit.
I love the ethos of this ‘slow lifestyle’ magazine and book publisher, based in Copenhagen. After all, we could all do with taking our feet off the gas a bit, no? They look brilliant on your coffee table too! I have their Home, Entrepreneur and Table tomes in stock – come have a browse.
Hailing from a cold climate, I love a good blanket or three. These ones are perfect for sofa snuggling or throwing over your duvet on wintry nights. Swedish heritage brand Klippan have been creating these woollen wonders since 1879.
Liv-Unni Tveitane is an old friend of mine from Kristiansand who happens to be a totally amazing photographer. She captures the people and spectacular landscapes of Norway and her prints are exclusive to NORSK in the UK.
NORSK is a family affair – I’ve roped in my clever, creative mum Torunn to hand-knit traditional Norwegian wool house socks and make hard-wearing canvas kitchen aprons. She stuffs them in my suitcase when I go back home to visit in Kristiansand – good old Mamma!
OK, this is actually a Dutch brand so not quite Northern Europe but I fell for Me&Mats candles’ upbeat, seize the moment mantras. Aren’t they fun? They smell as good as they look – thanks to a zingy combination of watermelon, grapefruit and patchouli essential oils – and make a thoughtful dinner party gift.
This Danish skincare brand is as chic as it is well-priced. The scented candles, hand creams and body lotions major on clean, natural ingredients (parabens and other nasties are a no-no), and the packaging is equally pared-down. Perfect for presents (and, yep, let’s include self-gifting!)
Kitchenware doesn’t come any more rustic than the hearty, hefty and hard-wearing wooden bowls, plate, utensils and boards from this Danish interiors company. I love how these products bring the rawness of natural into your home. Lovely craftsmanship too.
I’m very proud to be the exclusive UK stockist of this rustic homeware brand that’s based in my home town, Kristiansand in Norway. Their cute slogan mugs and accompanying wooden tray are perfect for coffee and cake (well, if you insist).
As you might’ve guessed, this is indeed a British pottery brand but I’m a fan of their pared-down aesthetic and artisan hand-made approach. They began in the 1950s, producing ceramics for London department stores and now supply top restaurants. Their plates and bowls are catering-standard – we use them in our cafés so I can vouch for how hard-wearing they are.
